According to a report by China Daily, the police in Shanghai China arrested a group of 5 people who were assembling and selling fake versions of iPhones in China. The group is though to be a part of the organised gang who were buying iPhone parts from Guangdong and assembling them in apartments in Shanghai.
Almost 200 iPhones were found during the police raid at the apartments in Shanghai, rented by the assembler group. Some of the parts are even claimed to be the original parts used in the assembly of the original iPhone 4.

The cost to make one fake iPhone, which used some genuine parts, was around 2,000 yuan ($313). It was sold on unauthorised markets and on the Internet for around 4,000 yuan, only a few hundred yuan cheaper than the real iPhone, the newspaper said. The fake iPhones had the same functions as the genuine ones but had a shorter battery life, it quoted the police as saying.China has often been criticized for its lack of control over piracy and alot of pirated products are being sold openly, in China. A few months ago, fake Apple stores were caught in China who were selling original Apple products but were not authorized.
